If you’re wondering whether Fender Marine Layer Reverb pedal is worth or not, don’t worry – you’ve come to the right place! I’ve been using this guitar effect for a while now and I feel like I’m in a good place to review it and share my thoughts with you. Undoubtedly, it’s a really interesting pedal, but is it actually worth it?

Absolutely! Fender Marine Layer Reverb is a really cool and affordable guitar effect suitable for all level players. The pedal gives you access to a really wide range of different tones and it’s really durable. Whether you’re into playing indie or ambient music, the Marine Layer model will be an excellent choice!

The truth is that the reverb pedal market is really saturated right now. There are a lot of different and cheap pedals out there made by such companies as TC Electronic, NUX or JHS. I tested out a few of different pedals and I still think that the Marine Layer stands out from the competition.

Let’s dive deeper with research and find out what makes this amp so special.

My Experience With Fender Marine Layer Reverb

I bought the Fender Marine Layer Reverb pedal a few years ago and to be honest, it quickly became one of my favorite pedals of all time. Since the day one, I was really surprised about the tonal possibilities that you can achieve on that thing.

To prove my point, I recorded this short review and demo, so feel free to check it out below. I recently started a YouTube channel on which I regularly review lots of cool guitars and pedals – if you like that kind of stuff, click the subscribe button – it will help my channel grow.

As you can hear on my demo, the pedal sounds absolutely fantastic. Whether you’re using the hall, room or shimmer type of reverb, it gives you a really special feeling. I particularly like the shimmer effect, which is perfect for more ambient and psychedelic sounds.

From the outside, the pedal looks really cool. In general, all Fender guitar effects look pretty much the same – they just have different colors. But there is something quite interesting in this minimalist design – I love it! In addition, there are some LED lights which look awesome when you’re playing in a darker setting or on the stage.

The size of this effect is rather large, so it’s going to take a fair bit of space in your pedalboard. It’s not a problem though – in the end, it’s easier to use. It is also worth mentioning that the pedal is quite heavy and it’s made of really durable materials. I’ve been using it frequently for the last few years and it’s still looking just fine (no scratches or any other damages).

Specs & Pricing

fender marine layer reverb review

Fender Marine Layer Reverb pedal features four knobs which offer the access to a really wide range of tonal possibilities. In addition, there’s a magnetic battery door, which makes swapping batteries really easy. You can either use a 9V battery or a regular power supply to use that thing.

When it comes to pricing, it seems a bit more expensive than the cheapest reverb pedals available on the market. Nevertheless, the Marine Layer reverb features an exceptional quality which significantly stands out from the competition. A lot of guitarists say that it’s on the same level as Strymon Blue Sky, which is far more expensive.

In my opinion, the price of the Marine Layer reverb is just fine – it’s not either overpriced or underpriced. I know that people are often looking for the cheapest gear on the market, but trust me – it’s totally worth it spend a few extra bucks and get something better, more versatile and more durable.

Who Is Fender Marine Layer Reverb For?

I think that the Marine Layer pedal will be perfect for both beginners and more intermediate players. If you’re looking for your first reverb pedal, you’ll be really satisfied with that model. I know that there are a few cheaper options out there (like TC Electronic Skysurfer or Nux Oceanic Reverb), but they’re not as functional as the Marine Layer.

When it comes to genres, I think that this pedal should work well in pretty much any type of music that features reverb. In my case, I’m using it mainly for indie, alternative and surf rock. Out of my observations, it works particularly well with a Jazzmaster or a Jaguar. So if you’re into that kind of surfy vibe, you won’t be disappointed!

Generally speaking, I feel like this pedal is a good investment. It saves you a lot of time, because once you get it, you just stop looking for different pedals. What’s more, since it’s made of a durable aluminium, it means that it’s really tough to break it. So there’s a high chance that you’ll be using it for years to come!
