In today’s in-depth review, I’m going to take a very close look on that high-end model. It’s one of the most expensive Fender basses out there, but is it actually that good?
The truth is that Fender American Ultra Precision Bass is a truly remarkable guitar. It certainly feels, sounds and looks like a guitar from the highest shelf. Undoubtedly, it’s one of the best Precision Basses available on the market right now.
Let’s dive deeper with research to find out what makes this bass so good and so popular among the professional bassists. Firstly, we’ll start with the overview of the specifications of that bass. Additionally, we’ll investigate the potential pros and cons of that model. Of course, there will be a few sound demos included as well!
Overview – Specs & Pricing
Fender American Ultra Precision Bass is a high-end 4-string bass guitar that exceeds all the expectations. This is actually one of the best and most expensive basses that are currently manufactured by Fender.
What makes it so cool? Well, the guitar features an alder body, a comfortable maple neck (Modern D profile) and smooth rosewood fingerboard which guarantees an enjoyable playing experience. On top of that, it also has a fantastic 4-saddle Vintage topload HiMass bridge which holds the tuning very well.
The manufacturer equipped this model with Fender Ultra Noiseless P-J pickups, which offer a lot of versatility when it comes to tone. These pickups give you access to a really wide range of different tones, so they’re definitely a huge advantage of that guitar. There’s also an Active/Passive Mini Toggle switch.
It is also worth mentioning that the American Ultra Precision Bass looks fantastic from the outside too. It’s available in a few different color versions: Mocha Burst, Ultraburst and Arctic Pearl. The Arctic Pearl one features a maple fretboard and a tortoise shell pickguard.
When it comes to pricing, it’s not a cheap guitar – it’s one of the most expensive Fender basses. Still, there’s a reason why the price of that model is so high – it’s just an exceptional bass! If you like to play on Precision Basses, this is one of the best basses of this type that you can find on the market.

Pros And Cons
The American Ultra Precision Bass is a fantastic bass guitar, but just like all other guitars, it has its own pros and cons. Don’t worry though – there’s not much to complain about in this case!
- Versatile Tone
- Very Comfortable Neck
- High-End Quality
- Exceptional Look
- Beautiful Finish
- High Price
As you can see, this bass has a lot of important advantages. It will be really tough to find a better sounding high-end bass. It’s made with a thorough precision and it features some of the best materials available on the market. On top of that, it looks simply beautiful!
The only disadvantage is the price – it’s pretty high. It’s extremely unlikely that you’ll experience any factory flaws of that guitar, because all of these models are carefully inspected in Fender’s factory in Corona, California. Apart from the price, there are no other cons.
Still, it’s all really subjective. Some bassists may say that this bass is overpriced, but I don’t agree with that statement. This is one of the coolest basses that are currently made by Fender, so it’s totally understandable why it’s expensive. The gear from the highest shelf is never cheap.

Firstly, you should definitely consider getting the Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass or Precision Bass. This is a pretty new model which offers an absolutely amazing value. It’s much cheaper than the Ultra Precision Bass and it sounds and looks amazing. Undoubtedly, a lot of bass players will immediately fall in love with that model.
If you’re on a really tight budget, perhaps choosing the Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar Bass will be the best choice for you. Although it’s not a Fender guitar, it offers a really good value and it’s available at a relatively low price.
